Synchronize calendars and use reminders
Connect an external calendar
Section titled “Connect an external calendar”When Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook synchronization is available:
- Open Calendars and edit the Doublewire calendar.
- Open Synchronization.
- For Google, select Connect Google, review the access summary, then select Continue to Google. For Microsoft, select its connect action directly.
- Sign in to the provider and approve the requested access.
- Choose a provider calendar you can edit.
- Save.
The provider connection belongs to the person who signed in. It can be reused for that person’s other eligible Doublewire calendars, but not by another workspace member.
Synchronization access depends on the Doublewire calendar type:
- For a personal calendar, you must own it and your role must include Create/Edit Calendar Events.
- For a shared calendar, your role must include Manage Calendars and Sharing.
These requirements apply when you connect or change synchronization, select Sync now or Stop sync, and resolve synchronization conflicts.
For Google, Doublewire reads the calendars available to you so you can choose one that you can edit. It then reads and stores that calendar’s event details in the selected Doublewire calendar and can create, update, or delete provider events when you make the corresponding change in Doublewire.
The first synchronization imports existing events. Later changes normally move in both directions. Use Sync now when you want a full recovery check.
Stop synchronization or remove copied events
Section titled “Stop synchronization or remove copied events”Select Stop sync to stop changes from moving in either direction. Existing events remain in Doublewire and in the provider calendar, and the connected provider account stays available for your other Doublewire calendars.
To remove events that were copied into Doublewire without deleting the Google Calendar originals, stop synchronization first. Then open each copied event in Doublewire and use its Delete action. Your role must include Delete Calendar Events. You must also be allowed to edit events in that calendar; for a shared calendar, Manage Calendars and Sharing satisfies that calendar-level requirement.
Removing Doublewire from your Google Account connections revokes Google’s permission but does not delete events already copied to Doublewire. Reconnect the provider account if authorization expires and you want synchronization to resume.
Resolve a conflict
Section titled “Resolve a conflict”If the same event field group changed differently in both places, Doublewire does not silently overwrite either version. Open the synchronization section, review the conflict, and choose which value to keep. Changes to different field groups can be combined automatically.
Understand reminder choices
Section titled “Understand reminder choices”- Event reminders are defaults selected by someone who can edit the event.
- My reminders are private to you and do not alter another attendee’s choices.
To change your reminders, open an event where you are an attendee and choose Use event reminders, Custom reminders, or Off. Custom reminders allow up to five delivery times.
Reminder delivery can use the notification panel, browser push, or email, depending on your choices under Profile > Notification preferences.
Snooze a reminder
Section titled “Snooze a reminder”Open an unread reminder in the notification panel, select its clock, and choose an available delay. Snooze is unavailable after the event starts, after the reminder is read, or after you lose access to the event.
